Strivectin...My Recent Visit to Costco

Happy New Year Everyone...it took me a little bit, but I finally got to Costco to see what was lurking in the so called "better skin care" aisle and while my husband was between Birdseed and Brisket, I took about 30- minutes and did some research. Investigating wasn't too much of an effort. In and among the makeup remover wipes and SCADS of Oil of Olay products hidden was an old friend named Strivectin. Strivectin. To begin with, StriVectin is the brand name of a company who produces a number of treatments that focus on anti-aging, or in my words, age management. Their products used to be all sold through the StriVectin web-site and independent on-line retailers but went mainstream and into stores such as high end Nordstrom, Macy's, Dillards and yes, Costco . My first encounter with Strivectin was through a distributors class when I worked as a brand new counter girl at Dillard's as a member of the Lancome team. I was in LOVE! Here is a Link (Click Here) In so far as ingredients are concerned, you can read them all easily...and if you notice, the first few ingredients include the word "Peptide". Ingredients in Strivectin SD:

NIA-114 molecule, Peptides, Aloe Vera, Resveratrol, Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Shea Butter, Laureth-7, Green Bean extract, Ginger Root extract

Peptides are molecular chains of proteins that help the skin with age-managment issues such as surface wrinkling and sulking or a "sagging". Another ingredient that is synergistic in their formulas is "NIA-114".

What IS NIA 114? NIA-114 is a great alternative to tretinoin, (the OVER prescribed "gold standard" routinely prescribed by dermatologists to keep aging skin looking younger). Tretinoin is sold under brand names like Retin-A and Renova. It's side effects can include redness and peeling, however, those affects are not as bad as true prescribed Retinols which thin the skin or over time, cause reactivity in the skin. This NIA-114 molecule, is a form of Niacin which also protects and assists with the regeneration of collagen. I could go on about the other ingredients, but you all have heard me harp on the benefits of those ingredients during treatments, especially Resveratrol, Vitamin C and Hylauronic Acid. There have been studies about the science behind the product, including a study by two scientist at the University of Arizona, Myron and Elaine Jacobson. They found that if you improve the skin's natural moisture barrier especially of sun-damaged skin, then your skin becomes inherently softer and the texture changes. Well, here is another bonus. NIA-114 may fade sun spots, too. Although NIA-114 is NOT a blockbuster replacement for Retin-A, at least one dermatologist in one of the studies that I had read believes that Strivectin makes claims that are a bit far fetched....then again...he IS a paid consultant for L’Oréal Paris, too! The Verdict? In the end, this is a product who some may think is a bit expensive for those of you shopping the Over the Counter market....BUT...if I could carry it in my space and sell it retail, I WOULD! It is a product that can be very successfully replace the Moisturizer in your regimes. It is also unisex and when used faithfully can restore your natural moisture barrier in the skin. It is WORTH the Investment. In fact, if you allotted your $5.00 spent at Starbucks for 15 days...you wont regret it! Strivectin also has a 30-day return policy.
